About the event
This month’s Writer’s Hangout is focused on conflict and the different ways tension can shape a story.
We’ll be exploring conflict not just as arguments or dramatic confrontations, but as something that sits underneath scenes, relationships, and characters. Quiet resentment, awkward silences, emotional pressure, misunderstandings, internal struggles, all of these can completely change the energy of a piece of writing.
This session is a chance to look at how conflict creates movement and keeps stories alive, whether it’s loud and explosive or subtle and restrained.
Bring scenes, ideas, unfinished drafts, or moments in your writing that feel flat, low-energy, or like they’re missing something. We’ll spend time discussing how tension works on the page and how conflict can reveal character, emotion, and stakes without needing everything to be spelled out directly.
As always, there’s no pressure to share work or arrive with something polished. You’re welcome to write quietly, join…
