The Writers’ Hangout: Character & Writing Relationships

This month’s Writer’s Hangout is focused on character and writing relationships.

We’ll be exploring what makes characters feel layered, believable, and emotionally real on the page, while also looking at the relationships between them and how those dynamics shape a story.

Romantic relationships, friendships, family tensions, creative partnerships, awkward conversations, unspoken feelings, whatever form they take, relationships are often where stories come alive. This session is about digging into those connections and figuring out what makes them feel authentic rather than forced.

Bring scenes, character ideas, unfinished drafts, or pieces of writing you’re trying to figure out. You’re also welcome to come along just to listen, write quietly, or chat with other writers in the room.

There’s no pressure to share work and no expectation to arrive with something polished. The Writer’s Hangout is simply a relaxed space for writers to spend time around other people making things.
