About the event
Halloween with Frank.
October 1988. Donnie Darko is having trouble sleeping. One night, a figure in a rabbit suit leads him out of his house and tells him the world is going to end. While he’s away, a jet engine crashes into his bedroom. Surviving it is only the beginning of his problems.
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in Richard Kelly’s debut, which mixes teenage frustration with time travel, dark humour and a deeply unsettling visitor. Its suburban setting gives way to stranger possibilities, accompanied by an eighties soundtrack featuring Echo & the Bunnymen and Tears for Fears.
For its 25th anniversary, LMF Presents brings Donnie Darko to Picturehouse @ FACT in Liverpool on Halloween, screening the theatrical cut in 4K.
This is a standalone film screening, with no post-film discussion. Earlier in the day, our Mad World talk and workshop explores the film and the history of cult cinema from 12:30–16:30.…
