Inside the Work of a 1st Assistant Director

This full-day workshop focuses on the role of the First Assistant Director and how film productions are planned and run in practice.

Led by Josie Connor, a 1st Assistant Director and producer, the session offers a detailed look at the structure behind a film set and the systems that allow a production to move from script to shooting day.

Josie works across film, television, commercials and music videos, with experience spanning independent productions and projects connected with organisations such as BFI, BBC, StudioCanal and Universal Records. Her work involves collaborating with directors, producers and crew across a wide range of productions, from smaller independent shoots to larger-scale projects.
