About the event

A room in a David Lynch film rarely stays neutral for long. A mechanical hum, a sound without a visible source or a sudden change in the atmosphere can alter the space before the story tells us why.


For the second session of our David Lynch month, Sammy Holden will return to selected extracts from Mulholland Dr. and ask us to listen as closely as we watch. We will examine how sound works within the scene and how this influences the writing, shaping what we expect and where we imagine danger might be.


Working in small groups, we will take an ordinary interior and make it feel uneasy without introducing a monster or relying on obvious horror effects. Each group will create a simple map of the space, followed by a short sound score or written cue sheet.
