Cinema // After: Three Colours: Blue

After her husband and daughter are killed in a car accident, Julie tries to erase the life she had. She sells the house. Gets rid of things. Cuts people off. She wants silence.

But fragments of music keep interrupting that silence. A melody she can’t quite escape.

In the discussion, we’ll look at how Kieślowski builds feeling through interruption. The way the score cuts in and then drops out.
