DIY CHALLENGE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

1. General Overview

These terms and conditions govern the submission, participation, and associated rights in the Trial & Error: DIY Filmmaking Challenge hosted by Let’s Make Films CIC. By submitting a film, participants agree to abide by these terms.

2. Eligibility

The challenge is open to all filmmakers, regardless of experience level, aged 18 and over.

All films must be submitted by the official deadline, provided at each mixer event and announced online the day after.

3. Submission Guidelines

Films must be created within the challenge’s one-month period, starting from the date the theme is announced at the mixer.

The maximum film length is 5 minutes, including credits.

The film must be original and created by the participant(s) during the challenge period.
Films must comply with UK laws relating to copyright, privacy, and libel.

4. Ownership & Copyright

Participants retain full ownership of their films.

By submitting a film, participants grant Let’s Make Films CIC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to screen, showcase, and promote the submitted film as part of the Trial & Error challenge and related events (including the DIY Winners quarterly showcase).

Let's Make Films CIC may share films on social media, websites, and other platforms to promote the challenge or the filmmakers involved.

5. Usage Rights

Let’s Make Films CIC may use stills, clips, or the entire film in promotions, marketing materials, and online content related to the challenge.

Filmmakers will be credited appropriately whenever their film is used by Let’s Make Films CIC.

6. Submission Format

Films should be submitted via the official website (www.letsmakefilms.co.uk) in a standard digital format (e.g., MP4, MOV).

Submissions must include a completed submission form detailing the film’s title, director, and cast/crew information.

7. Screening & Selection

Themes for the DIY challenge will be announced at the Let’s Make Films CIC creative mixers and posted online the following day.

Each month, a selection of winners will be chosen to have their films screened in the quarterly showcases as part of the DIY Winners section.

Filmmakers will be notified via email if their film has been selected for a screening.

Let’s Make Films CIC reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not adhere to these terms and conditions.

8. Disqualification

Films found to contain plagiarised content, inappropriate material, or material that breaches UK laws will be disqualified.

Let’s Make Films CIC reserves the right to remove any film deemed unsuitable for public screening without notice.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they hold all necessary permissions and rights to the materials used in their films, including music, footage, and images.
