DIY CHALLENGE - Rules and Guidelines

1. Film Creation
All films must be created within the one-month time frame, beginning from the theme announcement at the Let’s Make Films monthly mixer.
Participants must adhere to the theme provided for each challenge.
The maximum film length is 5 minutes, including credits.
Films must be original and created specifically for the challenge. No pre-existing content can be submitted.
2. Equipment & Resources
The challenge encourages participants to use whatever resources they have available. There are no restrictions on equipment – whether you have a professional camera or a smartphone, feel free to use it!
Creativity in storytelling and resourcefulness is highly encouraged.
3. Submission Guidelines
Films must be submitted by the deadline provided at each mixer event. Late submissions will not be considered.
All films must be uploaded to the submission form on the official Let’s Make Films website (www.letsmakefilms.co.uk) in MP4 or MOV format.
Submissions must include the title of the film, a brief synopsis, and a list of the key crew involved (director, writer, etc.).
4. Content Guidelines
Films must comply with UK laws and not contain any inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content.
Music, footage, and images used in the films must either be original or licensed for use. It is the responsibility of the filmmaker to ensure they have permission to use any third-party content.
Films must not infringe upon the copyright of any individual or organization.
5. Film Selection & Screening
A selection of films will be chosen each month to be screened at the quarterly DIY Winners showcase.
The winning film will be announced within a week of the submission deadline. All unsuccessful entrants will be notified at the same time via email.
Let’s Make Films CIC reserves the right to refuse the screening of any film that does not meet the challenge criteria or is deemed inappropriate for public viewing.
6. Judging Criteria
Films will be judged based on creativity, storytelling, adherence to the theme, and resourcefulness in filmmaking.
The judging panel will consist of members from the Let’s Make Films team and guest judges from the local filmmaking community.
The decision of the judges is final.
7. Prizes & Recognition
There are no monetary prizes for winning films. Instead, selected films will be screened as part of the DIY Winners category in the quarterly showcase.
Winning filmmakers will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session at the showcase.
Let’s Make Films CIC may promote winning films on social media, websites, and other platforms, crediting the filmmakers appropriately
8. Conduct
Participants must conduct themselves respectfully at all times during the event and in interactions with the Let’s Make Films team and other participants.
Harassment, discrimination, or any other inappropriate behavior will result in disqualification from the challenge and exclusion from future events.
9. Amendments
Let’s Make Films CIC reserves the right to modify these rules and guidelines at any time. Any changes will be communicated to participants in advance.
