DIY CHALLENGE - Code of Conduct​

1. Respect for Others

All participants, judges, and audience members are expected to treat each other with respect at all times.
Discrimination, harassment, or any form of offensive behaviour based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or any other personal characteristic will not be tolerated.
Any incidents of disrespectful behaviour will result in immediate disqualification from the challenge and may lead to exclusion from future events.

2. Collaboration & Teamwork

Filmmakers are encouraged to collaborate with others in the spirit of creativity and community.
All collaborators must be credited appropriately in the submitted film, including directors, writers, cast, and crew.
Respect the time, effort, and creative contributions of your team members.

3. Originality & Ethics

All films submitted to the challenge must be original creations made specifically for the Trial & Error challenge.
Plagiarism or the unauthorised use of copyrighted material (including music, footage, or images) will result in disqualification.
Filmmakers must ensure they have the necessary permissions for all third-party content used in their films.

4. Conduct During Filmmaking

Filmmakers must adhere to safe and legal practices during the production of their films.
No illegal, dangerous, or harmful activities should take place during the filmmaking process.
Respect public and private property when shooting on location, and ensure that you have any necessary permits or permissions.

Cinema Screening Code of Conduct

1. Respect for the Screening Environment

All audience members are expected to behave respectfully during cinema screenings.
Please switch off mobile phones or set them to silent mode during the screening.
Talking or disruptive behaviour during the screening is not permitted. Be considerate of others who are there to enjoy the films.

2. Filmmaker Interaction

Filmmakers are encouraged to participate in post-screening discussions and Q&A sessions.
Audience members are encouraged to provide constructive feedback, but any inappropriate or disrespectful comments will not be tolerated.
Everyone must be treated with kindness and respect during discussions, especially in relation to feedback on the films.

3. Respect for Venue Rules

All attendees must follow the rules and guidelines of the cinema venue.
Any food or drink policies set by the cinema must be respected.
Any damage to cinema property will result in immediate removal from the event and possible exclusion from future events.

4. Inclusivity

Let’s Make Films CIC and the cinema are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and audience members.
Any form of discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour during the event will result in immediate action, including removal from the venue or event disqualification.

5. Safety & Emergencies

In the case of an emergency, attendees must follow the instructions of cinema staff and evacuate the building in a calm and orderly manner.
Please familiarise yourself with the emergency exits when you enter the cinema.
